Well, for the 'making people register to post comments' ... otherwise I'll be buried in spam (I get about 10 spam posts a day.... don't want them in my weblog).

On the topic of your question:

at first I had the same problems you had, the where solved by increasing the initial amount of memory assigned to your VM (I assigend 768mb). I must say that the resulting VM works, but is not even useful for testing it's far to slow IMHO.

hey Peter
found your blog entry while googling osx ubuntu ..
i'm trying to install osx under ubuntu (i just need it to run safari and test my work on it !)
i just can't get it to work ... the cd loads and it doesn't go past the first apple screen with the swirling indicator ...
what does your vmx file looks like ?

PS: making people register to post comments is not very user friendly ... consider removing that ;)
